Happy New Year from Fleming Technical.

Some MP2 users prefix their Work Order number with the last two digits of the year that the work order was created, e.g. 19-0012345

Resetting the Work Order number on January 1st is a task that frequently gets delayed or forgotten.

If you prefix your work order number with the year, now is the time to plan to reset:
Log in to MP2, Click Tools, then click Setup, then click Work Orders

A Work Order Setup dialog box will open displaying the next Work Order number. This is where you change your prefix.

It is strongly recommended that you create a work order or two to test your change to see how the new work order number format fits in with previous formats in the Work order and Work Order History modules.

You can also take this opportunity to remove some of the leading zeros from the work order to reduce data entry effort. In the above example you could change to 20-12345.

You may also consider dropping the year reference altogether e.g. 012345 and use the Request date to determine when a Work Order was issued.

Again it is strongly recommended that you create a work order or two to test your change.

Wishing you the very best for 2020.
